MSCA Choose Europe for Science supports existing or new regional, national or international mobility programmes for postdoctoral researchers. The scheme aims to offer concrete career prospects, increased career stability by improving excellence in the training, research and mobility of researchers in Europe, and to achieve tenure-track and permanent positions. Support is provided not to individual researchers but to European organisations offering mobility programmes.
Organisations from Member States and Associated States that offer programmes to enhance transnational mobility and career development for postdoctoral researchers may apply. One organisation applies as beneficiary and will sign the contract with the European Union (mono-beneficiary action).
Organisations can apply for funding with both existing and new mobility programmes which enable or promote transnational mobility and the career development of researchers.
The programme is dedicated to postdoctoral researchers who have already been awarded a PhD degree. The objective is to increase the researchers' skill sets to improve their employability and to stabilise their career prospects.
Each Choose Europe for Science programme must be divided into two phases. The first phase encompasses a duration of either of 24 months or 36 months, the second phase a duration of 24 months. The second phase will be fully financed by the beneficiary.
The selection of researchers should be based on open competition and on fair, transparent peer-review procedures.
When hiring researchers, the mobility rule must be applied – researchers may not have resided or worked in the country of the host organisation for more than twelve months in the last three years.
MSCA Choose Europe for Science supports programmes with a maximum duration of 60 months (24 months in the first phase and 24 months in the second phase) or 72 months (36 months in the first phase and 24 months in the second phase). 12 months are foreseen to start the recruitment.
EU funding is provided in the form of a fixed contribution of 6,700 Euro per person month for the first phase of the fellowship (Choose Europe for Science allowance).
The maximum EU-contribution for each beneficiary amounts to 3.5 million euros.
Project proposals are submitted by the organisations. Researchers apply directly to the selected organisations.
