The European Research Executive Agency (REA) received a total of 21,627 applications for the Postdoctoral Fellowships call 2026 before the deadline of 9 September 2026. Of these, 20,131 applications were for European Fellowships and 1,496 for Global Fellowships.
This represents an increase of 26.7 percent compared with 2025 and the highest number of applications ever received for a single funding scheme in the 40-year history of the EU Framework Programmes for Research and Innovation. By comparison, 17,058 applications were received in 2025, compared with 10,360 in 2024.
Based on the available budget, around 1,600 projects are expected to be funded, with a total budget of 399.05 million euros. The evaluation results are expected to be announced in February 2027.
