The annual call for Postdoctoral Fellowships (PF) had its submission deadline on 13 September. A total of 8,039 applications were received by the European Research Executive Agency (REA), 7,178 of which applications for European Fellowships and 861 for Global Fellowships.
Last year, a total of 7,044 applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship were submitted. This represents an overall increase of 14.1 percent in the number of applications from 2022 to 2023. The European Fellowships show an increase of 13.3 percent and the Global Fellowships an increase of 21.3 percent compared to 2022.
The results of the 2023 call will be communicated to applicants approximately by mid-February 2024. With a preliminary budget of 260.47 million euros for the Postdoctoral Fellowship Call in 2023, more than 1,250 projects are expected to be funded by the European Commission.
