At the end of January 2024, the European Commission published a report on the ex-post evaluation of Horizon Europe. The evaluation examines the impact of Horizon 2020 up to and including 2023.

The MSCA account for the highest number of all signed funding agreements (11,960). Moreover, the MSCA constituted the most international component of Horizon 2020 supporting researchers of 160 different countries (40% of non-EU countries) and participating organisations from 139 countries. Thus, the MSCA alone accounted for over half of all Third Country participations in the programme. The results of the evaluation also clearly show that Horizon 2020 played a decisive role in the training and career development of researchers. The surveys showed that around 85 % of those who had received an MSC Individual Fellowship rated the training opportunities and support offered as "very good" or "good".
